Next Generation Transparent Photovoltaics

Polysolar is at the forefront of the development of next generation solar cells based on organic polymers. Working in collaboration with some of the world's leading innovative companies and scientific institutions (Pilkington, Solvay, Merck and CPI as well as a number of leading UK universities) Polysolar has received a variety of innovation awards including two Technology Strategy Board (TSB) collaborative research grants to advance its technology.

As global leaders in transparent thin-film photovoltaics, Polysolar is working with the latest chemical sets, conductive coatings, cell designs and encapsulation systems to develop fabrication processes for manufacturing photovoltaic windows. Exploiting the attributes of organic polymer photovoltaic materials, we are able to manipulate the active semiconductor layers to optimally perform the required functions, while being able to apply extremely thin coatings on large areas of glass using low cost high efficiency manufacturing processes.

Organic photovoltaics (OPV) offer the promise of ultra low-cost, high-efficiency, large-area solar glazing, that can be tailored to meet specific project requirements. Enabling us to deliver superior performance transparent windows as a replacement for conventional building solutions at no extra cost.
